Green Hills

I started on the hills, took me a while to work out what I wanted to do, but I think this looks okay.

Feathers were the winner :)

 Shadows

I love doing this piece, and can't wait for all the feathers to cover the landscape hehehhee I am going to enter this one into the QLD quilters competition I think.

I just finished watching Oblivion. Wow!!! what  a great movie. It has been a while since I watched such a gripping movie. I really got absorbed and swept away with the story, cinematography and the music and the way it was all put together. Gorgeous.

Now to do some sewing for a few minutes before school's out :)

Thread

I have found another place to add to my list of places to travel to one day. This place....

Oh my does this look glorious?? I think so. It is called Berneray in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland and I want to go there. Now would be nice :) but oh well, staring at these pictures at my desk will do. What's on your list?

Shock horror that I opened my blog about something other than quilting!! Back to it!! If you can't tell from my blog I love thread. Really love it. I dream about and look on google for drawers and units to store thread, mainly these units cost more than my thread is worth :) reality does not factor in dreams, and then I dream about owning every single colour in the marathon thread range as well as the superior thread range and how much money I would need for all that :) details in a dream are very important. So anyway, reality again and I love having so many different coloured threads to blend and make the quilt as good as it can be. These are the blues that I used for the sky. There was one more but I put it away and in typical fashion can't remember which one it was now :)

 Gorgeous aren't they!!

Sky finished.....

 Gorgeous little feather

And these are the greens I am planing to use somehow on the hills etc. Still working out how to do it. Would love to do it the same as the sky but want a difference too. So still thinking... could take a
while :)

Oh and we placed another geocache on the weekend and that was so fun and we found one too, need to do more of them you forget how much fun it is. But our geocache got six people trying to be first to find the cache and three of them turned up at the same time :) So our goal is to really get out there and go for lots of walks and adventures and find lots of geocaches. Give it a go, it is so much fun.

I have also started doing this again, she used to be called body rock and now has gone out on her own. Her workouts are the best and so to lose the jaba the hut chins I am giving myself 12 minutes of pain every morning and then some mornings going for a walk straight after. Legs are jelly, it hurts to get up after sitting but I feel Amazing!!! So strong  and confident, I know it sounds like a sell but I really do. I feel so good that I can do these workouts. Go me :) Come and join me some time, it would be fun to work out together :) No chocolate today, that hurts just as much as the exercise hehehehhe but I am trying.

So Fun

Have started on the Italian dream piece and have been working on the sky. It is so much fun to do this. I am absolutely enjoying it and would love to do nothing else but this :) reality pushes in and I have to stop.

Don't you just love it!!! :) I am so enjoying fitting in the feathers into little spots that are just asking for them :). And those trees...... just so cute.

Went shopping today and finally bought myself a slow cooker. I cannot make casseroles. They taste terrible when I make them and the house smells :) so I thought maybe a slow cooker will fix that hehehehe What is your favourite thing to cook in a slow cooker?

And I finished watching Scandal and wow is that a fantastic show and I am sooooo waiting for the next season. Love it. Now watching reruns of Person Of Interest, sooooo good.

Quilt Done

I finished the quilt yesterday and I am so happy with it. I love the white in it as i really makes everything else stand out.

Now to do the wall hangings, then I am excited to start my Italian themed one so that I can add something to my Etsy store as it has been a bit quiet there lately.

Made some cupcakes from a Martha Stewart cookbook and they were so delicious, the only thing was Sam and I made double batches of two different cupcakes so the recipe said 30 so that means we should have gotten 120 cupcakes. We only ended up with 77, this was a bit annoying since we used 12 eggs and a lot of butter. On one hand they taste fantastic so thats great but on the other hand I want more cupcakes for my ingredients :) such a silly thing to complain about I know :) Next time I just won't bake when I get the urge :)

So Far

School is back, the house has been cleaned and I am sewing!! I am so glad I have found something that makes me happy  :) Here are a few photos of progress so far

Loving the tree trunk :)

This is gorgeous fabric so I just shadowed the design and it looks fantastic, well I think  it does :)

Love the leaves too...

Just watched a Miss Marple movie and of course it was fantastic. I wonder when those movies air whether the sales in villages go up :) It seriously looks idyllic and divine :) it never rains, its never cold, everyone is so very nice, well except for the murderer but you know that he/she will be gone soon so that's ok :) and all the houses are gorgeous and the gardens are in full bloom oh and no one has to work. What a life!! I want one of those too please :). The only reason it would suck is if you were the victim, but hey you got to live in a gorgeous village for a while before someone killed you :).

Back to reality now, which is pretty good for me - sewing and watching a new show for me, Scandal, love it.

Half Done

This is the quilt so far....

The painted squares

Gorgeous panel fabric

Cute??:)

This is the backing fabric, it is by Robert Kaufmann and is a super super soft fleece and is a gorgeous lime green that this photo doesn't show. It is so soft it is like velvet, just what you want for the back of a baby quilt. It just makes you want to run your hands over it.

The pieced quilt.

Now for the super fun part of free motion :) lots of feathers on this one.
I bought some cotton fabric for this and I am having trouble getting crease out of it!! I have never experienced this before and I have used so many different brands of cotton. I am hoping that once I have washed the whole quilt and starched the squares that it will be okay.

Had a great 4th of July party with some American friends and had the best burger ever!!. Sooo yum and also the best apple pie everrrrrrrrrr :) soooo yum. Just thinking about it makes me want to eat more now!! :) But alas I am back on the diet. Oh well, I will just relive eating that delicious food instead :).

New Commission

I am working on another baby quilt at the moment along with 4 wall hangings that will match the quilt.
All I have managed to do is the blue sky. School holidays absorb time!!

Talking about school holidays, we took the kids to see Despicable Me 2 yesterday and it was so funny and cute. Just loved it. It was so cute listening to kids laughing and really enjoying themselves. Nice.

A surprise activity that the kids have been doing a lot is bubble blowing!! Right now they are playing outside chasing them around just having a great time. Who would have thought! And we have the most perfect weather today!! Winter and its not cold, beautiful blue sky..... not a cloud in sight and the sun is gorgeous and warm. Such a perfect day.

I know that it is a bit hard to see the patterns, will paint them in and you will be able to see them better...

So these are the squares for the quilt and the wall hangings. Cute owls and birds mum and dad and baby :). Now to do the green parts. Love how the sky looks.

Still fighting the urge to shovel anything sweet and remotely looking like a chip into my mouth :) Will it ever go away? And it would help if I look like I have lost weight, I would love to lose the rolls of fat around my side :) I have gone from 4 to 3 hehehehhe so I am slooooowly getting there. I really really wanted to eat a snack sized cherry ripe last night but beat it!! yesssss. Had crackers and tuna today for lunch and it was ok. I bought some expensive tuna that was on special and told my hubby he better not like it too much as this was too dear to buy normally :) and of course when we had it today it was gorgeous!! I will see how much it is in a large tin and buy little containers for H at work. The joys of thinking about every minute thing you eat!! How do you get through it?
