Stuff

So I have finished the tree quilt. Going to have to come up with other ideas besides trees :). It looks so much better in person of course :) Will take a better photo too :) obviously I need photography lessons :)

These leaves are a deeper green so that they give the impression of the foreground leaves

Flowers at the bottom of the quilt, and again the green grass is darker than that

The feathers do look like they are falling down from the tree :) yay

And I am working on this....

I am getting through it faster than I thought, once again that dream of owning a long arm would come in real handy right now :) but since my craft area shares with the dining area and if you sit in the dining chair behind my chair at my desk you wont be able to get out of your chair :), there isn't really anywhere to fit a long arm. Talking about space, I helped a friend move and her new house is so gorgeous that I got a little house envy :) there is so much room!! and now she has her own craft room, it looks so lovely. I had to go home and get over the urge to move in with her and her family :) well just my craft stuff anyway :)

Watching Continuum still, just got the latest episode, very cool. Give it a go and tell me what you think.
Also am reading another Michael Connelly book, his Harry Bosch series and am enjoying that. What are you reading?

Feathers

Now that the metallic thread on the leaves is all done, I am now doing the gorgeous feathers. I am trying to give the impression that they are floating down from the tree...

At the top of the quilt, hoping this give the impression of leaves being blown about too :)

Gorgeous metallic thread, this is the marathon metallic thread and it hardly snapped at all. Totally impressed with this thread.

Went to the beach for Mothers Days with all the mums and just managed to catch the rainbow, bottom left hand corner and there was no one else in the picture! just shadows... gorgeous isn't it. It was such a windy day and ended up packing up early, still a lovely day though.

Raining/overcast here again, husband had to take the bike to work as I need the car, here's praying he doesn't get wet. Feel bad that he is on a motorbike in this weather. I think I will make myself a jarra hot chocolate to feel better :).

Metallic Thread!!

Okay, so I put Luminous on my Etsy site, hoping it will sell of course :) and get me a few more hits. I was going to keep this one as I love it, but bills are there and need to be paid :). Life.

Working on the tree.....

Really enjoying doing all the different swirls and patterns to make the 'bark' on the tree.

Just started doing the leaves and this metallic thread is working much better so far.

This photo is interesting in that it looks like the swirly tree branches are popping out and yet it is the other way round, trick photography :) by accident hehehe It looks so much better in person.

I have been using by awesome metallic thread from Superior threads and it has always been great, but this time it snapped constantly!! very annoying but it is so gorgeous that I just put up with it :) it hasn't been that bad before. I am using a marathon metallic thread for the leaves and it is great too.

Mothers day coming up...... will I get breakfast in bed? Chances are that it wouldn't be that great if I do :)
Reading a book called Elegance by Kathleen Tessaro and am loving it. I have gotten her next three novels and really can't wait to read them all. Her latest looks fantastic too, The perfume Collector and it sounds so dreamy and just what we all want, some unknown person to leave us money :)

Fun!!

I am making another baby quilt, this time I surprised myself and made the quilt top in two days, in my spare time. Go me :) Even painted the squares with the cute animals. I will now do all the cool free motion work on it.
Yes I need to iron it but phhh ironing!! :)

But before that, I am working on this first :)

Mmmmm lovely gold swirls to colour in with thread.
Doing the healthy eating plan here and right now I really really really want to eat some chocolate. I will look up my fitness pal and work out how much I can eat. You need chocolate right? :) Watching second season of Continuum and really enjoying it. Watched the first episode of Revolution and thought it was okay. Will give it another couple of episodes to see if it can get better. What are you watching?

Leaves

I have started doing the leaves for my gorgeous tree with wash away. Note to self, dry hands thoroughly before touching wash away :) I love using the wash away, it is very cool and I love shaping the leaves once they have been wet and then they stay that shape!! How cool is that.

I think they look all right so far.
Going over the leaves with a lighter green, giving it a bit of depth hopefully :)

Was watching the last episode of the season for The Good Wife, big fan, and in the last minute it crashed! All this tension and build up and... nothing :) will have work out what happened real quick. Loving Grimm still too, that is such a fun show to watch. What are you watching at the moment?

Such Gorgeous Weather!!

The weather has been so perfect here, glorious blue skies and hardly any clouds, with a perfect breeze. So off we went to the beach. The kids swam and made sandcastles, friends came too so we relaxed on the sand chatting and enjoying the gorgeous weather. Could have stayed there all day.....

Yesterday I finished binding both the black swirl one and the green swirl one.  Binding takes so long and is not enjoyable, but something has to go around them.

Gorgeous isn't it!

They found a huge branch on the beach, so thought they could use it as a boat :) you can see it poking out....

hahahaha this was the result. Funny kids :)

This looks soooo much better in person. The green just glows and shimmers

This is another bad photo of black swirls :)

Love the backs as much as the fronts....

Gorgeous orange swirl

So now I am working on this, will add 3d leaves and flowers and birds nest and maybe even a bird :) In my head the bird looks great :) let's see how it looks in real life :)

Getting There

I have nearly finished the black swirls one. Still need a better name than that :) If I like this one, I might consider this for the QLD quilt show, but I just don't think there is enough stuff to grab your attention. The other ideas that I want to do will be better I think.

Still need a camera so these photos are real low quality sorry :)

My thread keeps snapping on my machine, so I take it apart to see inside, wish I could take more apart but I cannot, and there is a piece of thread stuck in the arm of the needle!! Darn. So now I have oiled it and gotten it out half way, now it is covered in oil and I can't grab the rest :) So I am now waiting for it to dry out and see if I can grab the rest. It is a lot better already so here's hoping I can get that teeny tiny bit of thread. I am now blinded though from using my super duper AnyTech torch that has three settings, super uber blind people bright :), super high bright and low. So I have it on the middle one and now I am blinking white :). But it helped me see the threads, well actually without it you can't see anything. Lighting in sewing machines suck. That is a big let down in nearly every machine that I looked at. Besides the super uber expensive ones. Bigger bulbs are needed.

ANZAC day tomorrow, so off to march with the family and wear my great grandad's medals. Very special indeed.
